Between now and the end of the month, minor finishing work will continue at the Austin Bluffs Parkway and Nevada Avenue intersection with minimal impacts to the public. This includes placing median light poles and miscellaneous project close out work to ensure that the contractor provides the City of Colorado Springs and the PRTA a high quality product that meets contract specifications.

A daytime lane closure will be necessary to install the median lighting on Austin Bluffs; two lanes will
remain open in each direction to complete this.

The Austin Bluffs/Nevada Avenue Project opened all traffic lanes Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006.

For the remainder of December, crews will be placing the "finishing touches" on Austin Bluffs/Nevada Avenue construction project. Activities include placing electrical wire, installing light poles on Austin Bluffs, and miscellaneous punch list items. No lane closures are scheduled for this week’s activities.

A daytime lane closure will be necessary to install the median lighting on Austin Bluffs. Two lanes will remain open in each direction to complete this operation. This work is tentatively scheduled for the week of Dec. 18.

The Austin Bluffs/Nevada Avenue Project completed final striping and opened all traffic lanes Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006. However, daytime lane closures will be necessary to finish detail work. Daytime lane closures will be in effect on Austin Bluffs Parkway and Nevada Avenue, Monday, Dec. 4 through Friday, Dec. 8, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. Crews will be finishing final electrical, landscaping and signing activities.

The end is in sight! We can now make east and west bound turns from the Mallow exit. I, for one, and very grateful that fact. Though CSCS was gracious to extend their help to us in a time of need, I'm certain they will be glad not have PRC traffic running through their lot anymore. Thank you, CSCS!

From Monday, Nov. 20 through Wednesday, Nov. 22, drivers can expect various lane closures on Austin Bluffs Parkway and Nevada Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day.

There will be no construction during the Thanksgiving holiday, from Thursday, Nov. 23 through Sunday, Nov. 26. Lane closures and travel delays will resume Monday, Nov. 27, 2006. From Monday, Nov. 27 through Friday, Dec. 1, drivers can expect lane closures from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. throughout the work zone.

Motorists can expect the following traffic impacts for the remainder of November:
• The speed limit through the work zone has been reduced to 35 miles per hour.
• The free right turns from Nevada Avenue to east/westbound Austin Bluffs Parkway and Garden of the Gods will be closed. Motorists can still turn right at the signalized intersection.

There will be various lane closures through the work zone on Austin Bluffs Parkway from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day on Monday, Nov. 13 through Friday, Nov. 17.

Garden of the Gods Road reduced to one lane from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day for milling on Thursday, Nov. 16 and Friday Nov. 17. On Saturday, Nov. 18 and Sunday, Nov. 19, these lane restrictions will be in place from 6:oo a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Kiewit Western Co. is widening the Austin Bluffs/Nevada Avenue intersection for the City of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority. There will be some major construction going on this week and weekend. Here's an excerpt from their website:

On Thursday, Nov. 9 and Friday, Nov. 10, crews will remove the old asphalt roadway on Austin Bluffs Parkway between Nevada Avenue and Stanton Road. Lane closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day during these operations.

ONE WAY TRAFFIC THIS WEEKEND
Weekend road closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day while the project repaves the parkway. On Saturday, Nov. 11, eastbound Austin Bluffs Parkway will be closed and on Sunday, Nov. 12,westbound Austin Bluffs Parkway will be closed. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction through the work zone (traveling head to head in the open direction). Drivers should anticipate some travel delays during weekend construction.

During the week of Nov. 13, Garden of the Gods Road will be milled and repaved. The project remains on schedule for completion by the end of 2006.
