Precious relationships

I have been giving some thought to relationships. Most of my relationships evolve around three things: family, friends, and ministry. I am recognizing a common thread in all three--relationships are fragile, and they take an investment of time. They are susceptible to tensions generated by life circumstances and differences in personalities.

Technological conveniences provided through text messaging and email, certainly add a different dimension to relationships. We invest our time and energy without ever having a face-to-face conversation. People may read our words, but they may never really know us or understand us.

I believe relationships are a gift from God, something to be cherished and nurtured. I know relationships take time, and energy, and certainly there are times of disappointment, but I am convinced the positives far outweigh the negatives.

When we pursue relationships with the intention of focusing on the other person, instead of ourselves, we experience relationships as God intended it to be.

The most important relationship to pursue and invest in is our relationship with God. That particular bond will influence and have huge impact on every interaction we make. If we are willing to make our connection with God the number one priority in our lives, we will make our friendships more purposeful, for we will have a different perspective on how and why we interact with the people in our lives.

If you have questions regarding your relationship with God, I would enjoy the opportunity to speak with you. Just give me a call. I always enjoy getting together over a good cup of coffee!
