Missions Update: July 2007

Here is the latest from our July 10, 2007 International Ministries Team (IMT) Meeting.

Becky Neumann - Zambia
Becky has been with The Navigators for five years at the University of Nebraska. Becky, along with a graduate student, led a team of nine other students to Zambia where they helped Navigator staff in their ministry at the University. The team also visited some schools to help feed the children and went to a national Navigator conference. They visited a village and helped with a church service in the village where a couple of girls accepted the Lord.

At the University of Nebraska, Becky works with sorority girls because they are the leaders. Next year there will be three new staff girls, one of whom Becky will be training and discipling.

Danny Neumann - Malawi
Danny has been working with students at the African Bible College for a year. The African Bible College provides a good education for African students, which helps them get jobs. Of the 200 students, 50-75% are believers. Danny works with a Navigator team of 6 native Malawans and 2 expatriots.

There is a secondary school that is a 15 minute walk from the college where he would like to start a discipleship group next year. Africans have trouble supporting themselves when they go on staff so Danny will also be working on helping to develop some micro business enterprises. One viable business makes floor and roofing tiles and has 25-30 employees. Danny is discipling a couple of guys who work there with the hope that they will start businesses of their own and begin discipling relationships as well.
