We exist to draw men out of isolation and into authentic relationships where they experience transformed lives and lead the circle of influence that God has entrusted to them. Islands to Themselves Men are isolated and this condition is bringing harm to their characters, marriages, families, and relationships. Unchecked and unconnected to the Body of Christ, this isolation drives them further from God and the people they love.
Some recent research highlights this: The Barna Research Group released a study titled, "Women are the Backbone of the Christian Congregations in America", that confirmed the fact that women outdistance men in every category of spiritual discipline and service in the local church. The Promise Keepers' research shows that over 65% of the men attending their events recently struggled with sexual temptation. The Enemy desires to keep men in isolation, so they will be vulnerable to his attacks. A lion hunts its prey by isolating one of the animals from the herd, and scripture likens Satan to a lion in just this way: 1 Peter 5:8 says, "The Devil prowls like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour."
What’s our goal?
When a man is connected and able to practice honesty with other men on a consistent basis, he moves from:
- Isolation to Connection
- Passivity to Pro-activity
- Secrecy to Openness
- Independence to Interdependence
- Abdication to Leadership
- Deceit to Honesty
- Anger to Love
- Relational Failure To Relational Success
- Irresponsibility to Responsibility
We have learned that dynamic content alone does not change men's lives. However, combining dynamic content and dynamic connections with other men does. "A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need." Proverbs 17:17
