March 16 – The Plagues: Pharaoh says “No”
Big Idea: God showed His great power to Pharaoh and the Egyptians through Moses.
Story Scripture: Exodus 5-10
Bible Verse: “Pharaoh would not let God’s people go.” Exodus 10:27
At Home Ideas:
Making Bricks
You will need these ingredients to make Sand Clay:
1 1/4c. flour
1 c. cornstarch
1 c. salt
1 c. water
½ c. fine sand
(straw)
Combine the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Slowly add the water, stirring as you pour. Mix the clay until it can be kneaded without being too sticky. Let your child mix straw into the sand clay and form it into brick shapes on pieces of waxed paper. Let them dry overnight.
Talk with your child about what God’s people had to do as slaves in Egypt, how God showed His power to Pharaoh, and how God’s power can help them.
Frogs and Grasshoppers
For the brave parent! Pick up some grasshoppers or crickets at your local pet store. Let your child gently touch them. Talk about what it would have been like to have grasshoppers everywhere, like in your bed, or in your food, or in your living room.
