Big Idea: Joseph’s jealous brothers sold him into slavery.

Story Scripture: Genesis 37

Bible Verse: “Joseph’s brothers were mean because thief father loved Joseph most of all.” Genesis 37:4

At Home Ideas:

Paper Bag Coat
You will need: paper grocery bag; crayons or markers; scissors
Cut armholes, a neck hole and a slit up the front of an inverted paper grocery bag. Give your child a cut sack and crayons or markers to make their “coat” bright and beautiful.

Big Idea: Jacob asked Esau to forgive him for tricking him.

Story Scripture: Genesis 32-33

Bible Verse: “When Esau saw Jacob, he hugged him and forgave him.” Genesis 33:4

At Home Ideas:

Lots of Animals
Gather lots of different types of play animals. Remind your child that Jacob gave Esau lots of animals when he came to ask for forgiveness. Have them make the sound each animal makes and then discuss whether each animal would have been one that Jacob had with him.

Big Idea: Jacob worked hard and God blessed him.

Story Scripture: Genesis 29-31

Bible Verse: “God blessed Jacob with many flocks and children.” Genesis 30:43

At Home Ideas:

What Can I Do with This?
You will need: a trash bag, duster, clothes hanger, toys
Help your child decide what to do with each of these objects and have them help clean around the house. Remind them that Jacob worked hard.

Every Day and Every Night
Teach this finger play to your child.

God is with me…(Point to heaven.)
When I sleep. (Lay head on hands as if sleeping.)
God is with me…(Point to heaven.)
When I play. (Run fingers of one hand across palm of other hand.)
God is with me…(Point to heaven.)
All the time. (Stretch arms wide.)
Every night…(Lay head on hands as if sleeping.)
And every day! (Join hands above head like a sun.)
