November 4 – The Tower: God Confuses the Language

Big Idea: People speak many different languages today because they disobeyed God.

Story Scripture: Genesis 11:1-9

Bible Verse: “God made people speak different languages and move to different places.” Genesis 11:9

At Home Ideas:

Build it Tall
You need: building blocks of all types
Set out building blocks of any type, such as Legos, wooden blocks, etc. Tell the children to build the tallest towers they can. Try working together.

I Love You
Teach your child the sign language for “I love you”.

October 28 – The Rainbow: God Keeps Noah Safe

Big Idea: Rainbows are reminders of God’s promise to never again send a big flood.

Story Scripture: Genesis 7:17-9:19

Bible Verse: “Rainbows remind us of God’s promises.” Genesis 9:16

At Home Ideas:

Round Rainbows
You need: round coffee filters, markers in a variety of colors, tape, spray bottle filled with water
Give your child a filter and spread it flat on a table. Let them choose 4 different colored markers. Tape the four markers together side by side, with points even. Have your child draw a rainbow shape in the center of the filter with the markers. Have them spray water on their rainbows and watch the colors spread together to form a beautiful rainbow. Remind them that God made the first rainbow.

It Won’t Break
You need: items that will not break easily, such as rocks, metal items and hard plastic items
Set out the objects. Ask your child if these things can break. Give them a chance to try to break them with their hands. Remind them that God’s promises are unbreakable.

October 21 –The Ark: Noah Pleases God

Big Idea: God kept Noah and his family safe because they obeyed Him.

Story Scripture: Genesis 6:5-7:16

Bible Verse: “God told Noah to build an ark for his family and the animals.” Genesis 6:18-19

At Home Ideas:

Talk and Snack
Serve celery sticks with cream cheese or peanut butter in them and stand animal crackers in the filling to remind your child of the animals on the ark.
While they eat talk about:
-Why was God pleased with Noah?
-What were the other people doing that made God sad?
-What did Noah build for God?
-What did Noah’s big boat carry?

October 14 –The Family: God Made Families

Big Idea: God made families to love and care for each other.

Story Scripture: Genesis 4:1-5:32

Bible Verse: “Adam and Eve lived a long time and had many sons and daughters.” Genesis 5:4

At Home Ideas:

Dress Up
You need: play clothes
Set out dress up play clothes and let your child pretend to be different members of their families.

October 7 –The Serpent: Adam and Eve Sin

Big Idea: God punished Adam, Eve, and the Serpent for disobeying Him.

Story Scripture: Genesis 3

Bible Verse: “God sent Adam and Eve away from the Garden of Eden.” Genesis 3:23

At Home Ideas:

Sneaky Snakes
You need: play dough
Set out play dough for your child to play with. Show them how to roll the play dough into snake shapes. Tell them the story from Genesis 3.

Snakes on the Ground
Have your child pretend to be a snake. Have them wiggle around the floor on their stomachs and hiss. Have them compare what it is like to move by wiggling on the ground, and what it is like to move around using their legs. Remind them that the snake’s consequence for deceiving Eve was to crawl on the ground.
