September 30 –The Holiday: God Rests from His Work

Big Idea: God made the seventh day a special day of rest.

Story Scripture: Genesis 2:1-3

Bible Verse: “On the seventh day God rested from all His work.” Genesis 2:2

At Home Ideas:

Snack Beds
You need:
Graham crackers and marshmallows
Make a “bed” by placing a marshmallow (pillow) on top of a graham cracker. While your child eats ask them these questions:
-How did God feel about everything He had made?
-Why did God stop working on the seventh day?
-How did the animals show their thanks to God?
-How do you think Adam and Eve showed thanks to God?

September 23–The Garden: God Creates Adam and Eve

Big Idea: God made people, His best creation of all, to be like Him.

Story Scripture: Genesis 1:26-31; 2:4-25

Bible Verse: “God make people to be like Him.” Genesis 1:27

At Home Ideas:

Fingerprints
You need: stamp pads, wet wipes, paper, and magnifying glass
Have your child make fingerprints on paper and look at them through the magnifying glass. Nobody’s fingerprints are exactly alike. God made each person special.

September 16 – The Zoo: God Creates Animals

Big Idea: Everything God made is “good”.

Story Scripture: Genesis 1:20-25

Bible Verse: “God made everything that is alive and moves." Genesis 1:21

At Home Ideas:

Guess Who I Am?
Give your child clues about an animal or make its sound and have your child guess what animal you are. Thank God for each animal. Then let your child come up with some animal ideas.

Feather Painting
You need: feather (available at craft stores), watercolor paints, paint smock, paper, and paint containers
Cover a work area with newspaper. Let your child paint, using the feather as a paintbrush. Where do feathers come from? Who made the birds?

September 9 – The Beginning: God Creates Heaven and Earth

Big Idea: God made a beautiful place for people.

Story Scripture: Genesis 1:1-19

Bible Verse: “God created heaven and earth.” Genesis 1:1

At Home Ideas:

Where Does it Go?
You will need: brown and blue sheets or blankets or large pieces of paper; many items that would be in the sky or on the earth, such as airplanes, birds, plants, stars, the sun and moon, and stuffed animals.

Set out the brown and blue sheet. Place all the items in a big pile. Tell your child that the blue sheet is like the sky and the brown sheet is like the earth. Have your child sort out the items according to where they would be found. Tell them that God made the sky and the earth.
