November 25/26—We Thank God--Review

Building on Last Week: Your children will remember the Bible stories of thanksgiving and be reminded of their need to thank God for His goodness.

Story Scripture: Review of Lessons 10-12

Bible Verse: “I will give you thanks.” Psalm 35:18

At Home Ideas:

Napkin Holder
You will need: paper towel tube; crayons; scissors; napkins
Give your child a paper towel tube and decorate it with crayons. Cut 4-6 evenly spaced slits in the tube but do not separate. Help your child fold napkins in half and slip one into each slit. Set out tonight at your dinner table. Have each person say something they are thankful to God for when they take their napkin.

Thankful Booklets
You will need: plain paper; magazine pictures; scissors; glue sticks; stapler
Fold several pieces of paper in half and staple at the center to make a booklet. Write on the outside cover, [Name]’s Thankful Book. Have your child cut or tear pictures from magazines of things they are thankful for and glue them into their booklets. Write something on each page as your child dictates.
Take time to pray and thank God for our blessings.

November 11/12 – God’s Thankful People Bring Gifts

Building on Last Week: Though at times the children of Israel were far less than thankful in regard to giving for the tabernacle, they did show a great deal of thankfulness for God’s deliverance.

Story Scripture: Exodus 35:1, 4-29; 36:1-7

Bible Verse: “I will give you thanks.” Psalm 35:18

At Home Ideas:

Make a Church
You will need: craft sticks; glue; crayons/markers; sparklies
Help your child build a square outline for their church by gluing four craft sticks in a square. Have them fill in the entire square with craft sticks, gluing the top and bottom of each stick to the frame. They can also add a church roof or cross. Color the church and then add sparkly jewels, coins, gold/silver lame, etc.

Piggy Bank
Create a bank from any material you may have at home or buy one at the store. Let your child help decorate it if necessary. Remind your child of how the Israelites gave of their bounty to help build their tabernacle. We can also give to God’s house.

November 18/19 – Jesus Feeds Hungry People

Building on Last Week: Deliverance from bondage, a place for worship, and the Lord’s gracious provision for our needs are among the many reasons to give thanks.

Story Scripture: Mark 6:30-44; John 6:1-13

Bible Verse: “I will give you thanks.” Psalm 35:18

At Home Ideas:

Bread and Fish
You will need: play-do ,bread dough, or slices of bread; cookie cutters
Let your child shape dough and cut into bread and fish shapes (5 bread, 2 fish). For pretend play use the play-do. Or, let your child use bread dough to bake or cut out pieces from slices of bread. Retell the story as your child works.

Food Baskets
You will need: construction paper; glue stick; crayons; cut out of a basket, loaf of bread (5), and fish (2)
Give your child the cut out pieces and the construction paper. Glue the outside edges of the basket onto the paper leaving the top open. Color the basket, loaves and fish. Then count out loud together as you put the loaves and fish into the basket.
How many loaves of bread are in the basket: How many fish? Jesus has power to give us what we need. Thanks Jesus for what He gives us.
