November 4/5 – God’s People Thank Him By the Sea

Building on Last Week: There is no greater reason for thankfulness than God’s care for us.

Story Scripture: Exodus 14:1-22,27; 15:1,20-21

Bible Verse: “I will give you thanks.” Psalm 35:18

At Home Ideas:

Red Sea Plaque
You will need: 1 wave pattern; green or dark blue construction paper; Styrofoam meat tray; glue; paintbrush; sand or cornmeal; small seashells; fish stickers; 8” length of yarn
Print “God Helps His People” on the tray. Put glue on the meat tray and show your child how to spread the glue over the lower part of the tray using a paintbrush. Help them glue the waves onto the tray. Put glue on the lower part of the waves and help them sprinkle sand or cornmeal on the glue. Shake off the excess into the trash. Put dabs of glue in the sand and add seashells. Put fish stickers on the waves. Tape a piece of yarn to the back of the plaque for a hanger. How did God help his people? Thank God for helping us.

Craft Stick Wind Chime
You will need: craft sticks; yarn; tape; crayons
Give your child 5 craft sticks and five foot-long lengths of yarn. For the sea, your child should color four of the sticks blue. Using a crayon or marker, write the Bible verse (“I will give you thanks.” Psalm 35:18) on the last stick. Tape a piece of yarn to one end of each blue stick. Then tape the other end of the yarn to the verse craft stick, horizontally. Repeat for each remaining stick. They should be about 1” apart on the verse stick. Tape a piece of yarn to the back of the verse stick on either end to form a hanger. Show your child how to gently blow on their wind chimes to make a noise.
