September 16/17 – God Increases a Poor Woman’s Oil
Building on Last Week: The ravens kept soaring and the jars kept pouring. God’s provision is amazing and sure.
Story Scripture: 2 Kings 4:1-7
Bible Verse: “He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7
At Home Ideas:
Never-Empty Jar
You will need: construction paper; crayons/markers; tape
Give your child a piece of paper and have them fold it in half. Tape the paper shut. Draw a simple jar shape on each side of the paper. Have them color one side to make the jar look full. Have them leave the other side empty. Retell the story to your child and have them show the full side whenever you talk about full oil jars and show the empty side when you talk about empty jars.
Helping Hands Poster
You will need:
poster board
Permanent marker
Scissors, crayons/markers, glue
Variety of paper (wrapping, wallpaper, newspaper, construction paper, etc.)
On a piece of poster board write the words “I Have Helping Hands”. Have your child trace their hands on a variety of papers. Let them cut out or you cut out the hands. Glue onto the poster board. Who gave us hands to help others? What are some things we can do to help others with our hands?
