March 18/19 – Abraham Leaves Home
Building on Last Week: Moves come more often than we might like, but spiritually mature people will handle change well because they know God is with them. Daniel and Abraham knew that God was with them, and they responded obediently in faith.
Story Scripture: Genesis 11:31-12:8; Hebrews 11:8-9
Bible Verse: “The Lord is my strength.” Psalm 28:7
At Home Ideas:
Going on a Trip:
Have your child help you pack a suitcase with the things they would need on a long trip. Talk about how hard it was for Abraham to move everything he owned a long distance. Then, of course, you have to unpack! Let your child help with this, too!
Make a Suitcase:
You can make a suitcase out of a paper plate. Fold a plate in half and punch holes where you can thread yarn or chenille wires to resemble a handle. Then find pictures in magazines/newspapers that your child can cut out to show items they could pack in their “suitcase”. Glue these inside their suitcase and close it up. Make sure and talk about how “strong” you need to be to pack up and move.
