Things Kids are Thankful For

Thanksgiving Sunday, the kids took a tip from teachers to count all the things they were thankful for. Before anyone knew it, it became a contest to see how many different things for which they were thankful. The 9:00 kids came up with an impressive 495 blessings and the 10:45 group thought up 860 blessings! Kudos to the teachers for counting them! Here is a sampling of what the kids were thankful for:

God has given me an allowance, snow days, good coordination, unspoiled food, cherry bombs...

Kids Cluhouse happenings

Thanksgiving Sunday, the kids took a tip from teachers to count all the things they were thankful for. Before anyone knew it, it became a contest to see how many different things they were thankful for. The Puppeteers will be performing during Kids Clubhouse with their special Christmas presentation on December 16. You don't want to miss it.

Preschool Giving Projects

Parents, be on the lookout for little white giving bags next Sunday to be going home with your child. They are called Christmas Kindness Kits, and you and your child may fill them with whatever you think would give joy to a friend, neighbor, relative, teacher or whoever you think could use some extra joy this season. Whether it is food, a homemade gift, or a gift card, your gift can be a special way to teach your child how wonderful it is to give to others.

Thanks to all the preschoolers and their families who contributed to the offering over the last year! We collected just over $212 and were able to put together 50 Kid Care packets for Northern Churches Care! They have been delivered and are being happily used by grateful kids.

We need your help!

Many volunteers are needed to take care of our kids. Some classrooms can't even be opened because there aren't enough adults to watch the kids. So, if you could dedicate one Sunday a month, please consider one of these areas:

Nursery: There is a desperate need for adults for the 2+ room which will open in January plus there are often rooms that need another adult every month. Contact Sarah Tinan.

Preschool: They need a storyteller once a month and a music leader once or twice a month. Contact Melissa Haas.

Kids Clubhouse: Are you creative, good with the internet, and interested in helping to create a new look in Kid's Clubhouse? We're looking for a handful of people to be in a THINK TANK to brainstorm ideas for the Clubhouse look for Fall 2008. Please email Sandy Ramsey or call 548-0850.

Want a 20-minute ministry with your family that really reaches kids on the inside? Help set out the water and snacks on Sunday mornings at 8:30 in Room 109. Contact Sandy Ramsey.

An adult for second grade is needed in the first service. Contact Erica Meyer.

Little People's Opinions

After polling the children at Pulpit Rock Church on a Sunday morning, this is what we learned about how they see Christmas and the things the surround the season.

What does Jesus have to do with Christmas?
"He was a baby." Colby, age 3
"Jesus was born on the first Christmas." Janet, age 6
"Santa comes because the wise men came." Rebecca, age 6
"Jesus is the reason we have Christmas because He was born. It was amazing that someone who never sinned before was born. So we made a holiday for him." Sam, age 9

What do presents have to do with Jesus?
"Wise men brought presents." Faith, age 5
"Jesus was given to us." Bethany, age 8
"Jesus is generous. He doesn't keep things to himself."
Sydney, age 8
"People give us stuff we need. Jesus gave His life to us."
McKenna, age 8

Do you get anything you don't need?
"Possibly. Like a hair dying kit." Sydney, age 8
"Never!" Alex, age 8
"I end up getting things I don't need like a card deck."
Mark, age 8
"God gives you lots of presents because He loves you. But I get too many hairbrushes and headbands." Madison, age 6
"Sometimes. People love me though." Josh, age 6
"I get too many video games and socks." Tanner, age 8.

Do we get too many presents at Christmas?
"Yes, because we all need to deserve what we get."
Sam, age 9
