The Celebration of Celebrations!!

Although there's a lot of hype about Christmas...and I would be the first to agree that there should be...come on...it's a pretty miraculous event...Resurrection Sunday is truly the miraculous event. It will be good to once again celebrate this day with you.

This year is particularly cool because we will be leading worship on that day with a 34 voice men's choir!! I'm am pretty thrilled about this and in case you didn't know....all you men that are on the vocal team are part of it. Any of you band guys who aren't playing that day, please sing with us. The more the....well...you know.

The schedule for rehearsals for the men's choir is: Tuesday 3/11 & 3/18 @ 7:00 PM in Room 104 and Saturday, 3/22 @ 4:00 in the auditorium with the band.

NEWS & PRAYER REQUESTS:

Mike & Ruthie's daughter, Tawni, & her baby are doing great!! The heartbeat is strong and she's further than she's ever been with her pregnancy. We are so grateful for this little Martinez/DeYoung miracle!! (I think it's a girl and I'm right half the time!!) Continue to pray for them.

Rhonda Flynn's mother's health has been pretty serious and she's getting to the point where she's going to need more care. It's possible that Rhonda and family may have to move back to Texas to help in the care of her mother. This is a difficult decision since Rhonda loves her church/worship arts family very much. Please pray for wisdom
for her and Ron as they struggle with this decision.

Jen Gish (Arnie's wife) was diagnosed with lupus which causes a lot of joint pain and fatigue. She has three little kiddos to take care of and most days just doesn't feel like she has the strength to be the mom that she needs and wants to be. Her mom has been wonderful in helping Jen and Arnie with the children. Join me in prayer that God completely heals her or gives her strength in the midst of her weakness.

Maggie Griese will be having surgery on her arm next week, but is in a great deal of pain. She would also appreciate prayer as she goes through surgery and then therapy and recovery after that.

John Skiba's grandmother has been put into hospice care and is not expected to live much longer. John may need to make a trip to Detroit at any point. Please pray for John, his family and his grandmother.

You got the news regarding my brother, Steve. His surgery went well and at this point all I know is that he'll be sedated for a couple of days and then they'll evaluate him after that. Many of you have sent me notes of encouragement. Thank you so much.

Continue to pray for Henrique as he serves in Afghanistan and for Jason Garrett and Arnie Gish as they go for training for the next two - three months.

Our needs as a team are great and this is what being part of this family is about: To love each other, care for each other and put each other above ourselves.

SCHEDULE

March:
9 Geof, Mark, Arnie, Brently FULL TEAM
16 Marc, Jeremy, Michael & Cathy Hanson Dena, Christine, Ruthie, Katey
23 Marc, Mark, Arnie, Michael & Cathy Hanson Testosterochoir (per: John Skiba)
30 Scott @ piano

April:
6 Marc, Jeremy Dena, Ruthie, Mike
13 Marc, Mark, Jeremy, Brently Christine, John S., Jason
20 Joel, Josh, Jeremy FULL TEAM
27 Scott & Anyone who's available to play

We welcome Laury Shorey to our vocal team and Lyn Quinlan to our band as an acoustic guitar player. We also welcome back Mark Smith on the electric guitar. The Lord is bringing more and more people to our teams. Exciting, huh?!? Please welcome these new/returning members.

After Easter Sunday, Thomas and the teaching team will be beginning a series on "Dangerous Worship" that you won't want to miss.

Having a team like this enriches Scott and me greatly. Thank you so much!!

Worship Arts Community Notes for January-February 2008

Happy New Year, everyone!! This should be an interesting year...full of changes. The word "change" seems to be the buzz-word for presidential candidates these days so I thought I would get in the spirit of things.

I guess our biggest change as a church family is the arrival of our new teaching pastor, Thomas, whose 1st Sunday is January 20th. We don't know how or if his coming will effect anything in Worship Arts, but Scott, Jeni and I will certainly welcome his input and ideas in our programming meetings.

IMPORTANT NEWS & PRAYER REQUESTS

I am attempting to put together an all-men's choir for Easter Sunday. If you know of some men in our church who sing and would like to have a part in this special event, please have them email me at the church. I'd like to have 20-30 men and I think we can do it! They will need to have some experience in "part" singing.

Henrique D. is leaving for Iraq in just a week or so. Please pray for his safety and for Erica as she waits for him and prepares for a new baby in their home.

Kenny Flanagan, son of Yours Truly, has finally asked his beautiful Anna to be his wife. He proposed on Christmas Eve morning and presented her with a beautiful ring. They are both very excited and are planning to be married on June 27th or 28th.

Christmas Time is Here

Christmas time is here, happiness and cheer.
Fun for all that children call their fav'rite time of year.
Snowflakes in the air, carols everywhere,
Olden times and ancient rhymes of love and dreams to share.

Sleighbells in the air, beauty everywhere
Yuletide by the fireside and joyful memories there.

Christmas time is here, we'll be drawing near
Oh, that we could always see such spirit through the year.

(Lee Mendelson & Vince Guaraldi)

Were you able to sing along with the words? If so...then you've watched your share of "A Charlie Brown Christmas"!

NEWS & PRAYER REQUESTS:

We have been praying for several months for Scott and his part on the Teaching Pastor search team. As you may have heard this past weekend, they have narrowed the search down to one man and he and his wife are quite excited about coming to PRC. Now is not the time to stop praying as there are still many details to be worked out. You won't want to miss December 9th as he will be coming here to speak to our congregation. There will also be a family meeting that evening in the MPV to provide an opportunity to get to know them.

This would fall under the category of "bitter-sweet": The bitter part is that Henrique is being deployed in January. The sweet part is that he'll be coming home to a new baby. That's right...Erika and Henrique are happy to announce that they are expecting their first baby. Congratulations to both of them and please pray for them as they anticipate this time of separation. Also pray for Henrique's safety.

Jonathan & Christine Corbett are praying and waiting on the Lord for the next step in their lives. The Lord has provided a wonderful job for Christine at Compassion International.

VERY IMPORTANT: I DESPERATELY NEED YOUR AVAILABILITIES FOR JANUARY-MARCH. Now is the time that I need to be sending you the schedule for these months and I don't really have anything to go on. Your help with this would be greatly appreciated!

DECEMBER SCHEDULE:

2 Marc, Mark, Arnie Vocals: John, Jonathan, Christine
9 Geof, Chad Vocals: Scott & Shelly
16 Joel, Josh, Doug, Jeremy, Brently Vocals: FULL TEAM
23 Marc & Arnie Vocals: Women's Ensemble
30 Scott @ piano

Have a Merry Christmas everyone....and thank you for your service this past year. You have blessed us and our church family!

Worship Arts Community Notes for November, 2007

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

The Rockies loss of the World Series aside, don't you love this time of year? I can't tell you how much our family enjoys Thanksgiving and how much we're looking forward to this year together. It isn't that this past year has been rosey for all of us. There has been some sadness, disappointment, struggles, and losses. However, like the people who came over on the ships and celebrated the 1st Thanksgiving, the journey may have been harsh, but we can still be grateful that we have arrived here and are enjoying the blessings of the One who holds our future.

Our church family has been through quite a year together and it's time that we step back and remember the goodness of the Lord. Therefore, we will be having a special service on November 18th that will be totally given to worship, thanksgiving and prayer. I trust that you have been listening to the links that I sent you and are becoming familiar with the two songs. DON'T FORGET OUR TWO REHEARSALS ON NOVEMBER 6 AND NOVEMBER 13.

COMMUNITY NEWS & PRAYER REQUESTS

Pray for Scott and Shelly Myers as they have just received news that his grandmother is passing away. She is his mother's mom and was put on life support just this past week and will be removed by the end of today. Please pray for them as they travel to Kansas for her funeral. This is the 2nd grandparent that they have lost in the past month.

Congratulations to Michael and Cathy Hanson (violinist & violist) on the birth of their daughter, Phoebe Isabella Hanson born November 1st and weighing in at 7 lbs. 11 oz. We join in celebrating this new life!!

Welcome to two new members of our vocal team!! Trish Taulbee (who has been part of the 605) and John Bender.
We are continuing to grow as a Worship Arts community. I don't blame people for wanting to be part of our team....you are a special group of people! They will be joining us for our November 18th Sunday.

Tawni Martinez has finally arrived and has been living here for the past month along with their 3 kitties: Zoe, Franky & Rocky. Her husband, Tony, also finally arrived on November 2nd, so the move is complete.

Continue to pray for Jonathan and Christine Corbett. It seems that the Lord has closed the door to the police department in California and he is no longer being considered for a position there. Since they have been going through this process for six months, they are obviously very disappointed. Please pray that they will be open to God's purposes and leading.

SCHEDULE

November

4 Geof, Chad, Jeremy Vocals: Kim & Liz
11 Kevin Matthews leading
18 Mark W., Kevin, Brently Vocals: FULL TEAM
25 Scott @ piano

December * Please note that this includes vocal schedule (finally!)

2 Marc, Mark, Arnie Vocals: Jonathan, John, Mike, Jason
9 Geof, Chad, Jeremy Vocals: Scott
16 Joel, Josh, Jeremy, Brently Vocal: FULL TEAM
23 Marc, Mark, Arnie Vocals: Women's Ensemble **This is all women involved with the vocal teams from the Full Team, 605, & Vocal Point. We need as many women as possible!!

We're all going to get to be with our families for Christmas Eve as we enjoy a Cowboy Christmas with the Colorado Wranglers.

Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with your families & friends. We are very thankful for each of you.

WORSHIP ARTS COMMUNITY NOTES FOR OCTOBER 2007

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO ME!! It's official...I have been Scott's assistant for 1 year this month and I must say that I'm as happy that God gave me this job as I was a year ago. These are the things that I'm most thankful for:

1. I'm back in a situation where music is what I do
2. That I work with and for a man who loves the Lord, his family and his church family and is absolutely committed to all of them.
3. That I get to be part of this WA team and get to communicate with you regularly. I pray that God will keep us close to Him and that we will worship Him always in spirit and in truth. We have a great team and I'm proud to part of it.

Again, thank you for your investment of time and talent in this way.

Enough with the mushy stuff.

NEWS & PRAYER REQUESTS

By the time this gets posted, Tawni Martinez will have finally made the move from Southern California to Green Mtn. Falls, Colorado. Her husband, Tony, has been offered a job here and will be arriving the 1st week of November after he ties up some loose ends with his job there. Hooray!! Are Mike and Ruthie happy to have them here? Have you ever seen Mike look so glowy?!? Oh! Wait! There's more! Mike & Ruthie just found out that their son, Michael and his wife, Becky, are expecting their first little one due in early April. Congratulations to the entire Martinez family!

Jonathan Corbett has walked through another step of the process of becoming a Glendale police officer. This one involved a lengthy background interview and a polygraph test. We believe that the next step is that they will send an investigator here to interview people who know Jon. No pressure! Continue to pray that God will lead their lives and that he will find favor with those who make the decisions. Christine and Jonathan are committed to being content with whatever God has for them.

Two members of our vocal team, Gary Rusk & Martin Shepperdson will be going to Morocco from October 20-November 4 as part of a ministry team. They are both excited about this trip and would appreciate our prayer for them. It is our privilege to do so.

Don't forget that we have a FULL TEAM weekend coming up on October 14th. The vocal and band members that are playing that weekend should have received a link for "Mighty to Save". Please be sure to become familiar with it before our rehearsal on October 9.

Important: Due to the fact that Henrique is being deployed, we have made a change for November 18th. We won't be doing the "Drums for Jesus" portion of the worship service, but it will still be an entire service of worship, testimonies and prayer. I NEED A VOLUNTEER TO PLAY ACOUSTIC GUITAR. Any volunteers? Contact me ASAP.

SCHEDULE

October

December
This will just indicate bands for now as we are still making some decisions about these weeks in December. Although I'm unsure about this schedule, there is still plenty of time to make necessary changes.

2 Band: Marc, Mark, Arnie
9 Band: Geof, Chad (?), Jeremy

I'm going to be requesting your availability for the new year in November so that I can get a schedule to you by mid December. I know it's hard to think ahead sometimes, but even something sketchy helps.

God's blessing on you....

Worship Arts Community Notes for September 2007

It's September and I'm already getting worried that I'm going to wake up to snow!! To be truthful, I like waking up to snow, but I'm not ready yet....I gotta get the snow tires on my car.

Our Fall kick-off for Worship Arts will be on Tuesday, September 11th. We already have a rehearsal scheduled that evening for the Full Team and band so let's all meet together and have a time of snacks, conversation and prayer together. This includes everyone involved in Worship Arts: tech people, bands, vocalists, Vocal Point, etc.
Come to room 104 @ 7:00 PM.

NEWS & PRAYER REQUESTS

Congratulations to our Kim (Simmons) Flynn. (She's a long-time member of our vocal team and part of Vocal Point). Kim married Tom Flynn on Saturday, August 25th and, let me tell you, Kim was absolutely radiant. It was a beautiful, happy day and we are happy for Kim and Tom.

Continue to pray for Mike and Ruthie Martinez and their daughter and son-in-law. Tawni did end up having to have a D & C, but Ruthie was able to be with her in California. Tawni and her husband will be moving here (hooray!) this fall. There are many changes in the Martinez household as Mike and Ruthie are moving into a new house and are up to their elbows in renovations.

Jonathan and Christine Corbett continue to make plans to move to California. Jonathan is in the final phase of his application to be a police officer in the Glendale police department. An officer from Glendale will be coming here to do a background check on Jon and then they should hear something soon after that. They are hoping this all happens in the next 2-3 weeks. The academy begins in October so they plan to move there in mid to late September. They want God's will to be done in this so your prayer for them is appreciated.

The search for a new teaching pastor is moving along. Continue to pray for the team as they are in the process now of watching videos of some ot he more-likely candidates.

WELCOME

Welcome to a new member of our vocal team: Kathy Brown. Kathy runs a daycare in her home for the children of teachers, and has also been anxious to be part of our worship arts team. Her first time with us will be at rehearsal on September 4th, so be sure to introduce yourselves.

REHEARSALS

Fall begins a new ministry season for our teams and we're looking forward to a great year. We also need to renew our commitment to our Tuesday evening rehearsals. It is particulary hard on our sound/tech team members when we "unschedule" or reschedule rehearsals. I also realize that sometimes you are are set to be at rehearsal and Scott or I cancel it for some reason. I will attempt to be better at communicating early enough with you and our tech team so that everyone is ready to lead worship on the weekend without feeling rushed or unprepared. When you look at the schedule, please be sure that you look at the Tuesday before your scheduled weekend to make sure that you are free for rehearsal.

Whew! This was a lot of news and stuff. I trust that this method of communication is helpful to you. I know I've said it before, but Scott and I thank you so much for your faithfulness and often times....spontaneity. May God bless you this year.

WORSHIP ARTS COMMUNITY NOTES FOR AUGUST 2007

Hello, Friends!! Unbelievable as it may seem, it's August and school will be starting soon. Yours truly always gets a little nostalgic during this time of year. Back in my teaching days, I actually enjoyed the beginning of the school year...setting up my classroom, welcoming my students, learning new music and hearing new voices. I get over it pretty quickly, however, when I see all of them in school on the days that I am off.

I am now transferring my excitement to a new year with the worship teams. We'll be introducing new music and planning new services and that is totally fun for me!! It makes me want to go out and get stuff to put up bulletin boards. We have already begun the process of planning some great services in November and December.

PLEASE DO THIS FOR ME: Email me and tell me what worship song has really meant a lot to you or speaks to your heart and why. We are planning a special service in November that is totally geared to worship/thanksgiving and we want you to be participants in more than a playing/singing way.

WORSHIP TEAM NEWS AND PRAYER REQUESTS

Kim Simmons had a scary episode with her heart a few weeks ago which required an over-night stay in the hospital. She experienced some chest pain and shortness of breath but the doctors have discovered the problem and have put her on medication. She is feeling better but would appreciate our prayer that God would give her a peaceful heart.

Along with that, congratuations are in order for Kim as she will be getting married on August 25th to Tom Flynn. We are thrilled that God has brought this special man to be her husband and that he gets a great girl like Kim.

Congratulations to Mike and Ruthie Martinez. A couple of months ago, they shared the sad news that their daughter, Tawni, had miscarried. However, their tears have turned to rejoicing as Tawni is expecting again and is due in March. Except for a little scare a few weeks ago, everything seems to be fine and the baby's heart is beating strong. Tawni and Tony are also making plans to move to Colorado Springs in November. Pray for the details of their move and safety for Tawni and baby.

Jonathan Corbett has applied to the Glendale Police Department in Glendale, California. So far, he has taken the written exam and passed and then scored in the top 4 of the physical agility test. Now they wait to see if he will be asked to come back for a second oral interview and then asked to enter the academy in October. This has been a big lesson in patience for both of them, but thus far they are confident in God's leading whether he gets in the academy or not. We are praying for God to grant favor to Jonathan if this is where God wants him to serve.

Martin Shepperdson & Gary Rusk will be in North Africa from October 19-November 3 to teach English to Muslims. Let's remember to pray for them and for their safety as they travel. I know they will be a blessing to the people there like they are to us.

Continue to pray for Scott and the pastoral search team. They are receiving a lot of applications that have to be sifted through by each member of the team. As you can imagine, this is very time-consuming, but they are confident that God has someone specifically for our family.

We are praying that God will provide additional musicians for our teams. We need instrumentalists and vocalists who have a longing to serve our church family in worship.

SCHEDULE

Another Birthday for America!! Happy July 4th!!

AVAILABILITIES

The most important thing this month is for you to send me your availabilities for September - November. I want to be able to give you a schedule by the August posting of the blog. It is so much more difficult when I have to make it without having your information. The changes can be very complicated...not impossible, but complicated.

We're also going to have auditions for vocalists for the Full Team in August. If you have heard somebody around you that sounds like they should be part of our team...encourage them to audition.

SCOTT & THE SEARCH TEAM

Don't forget that we still have a team that is diligently seeking the Lord's heart in the selection of a teaching pastor for our family. Continue to make this a prayer priority for you and your family as it is a much bigger job than any of us realize.

SUMMER SCHEDULE

July
8 Scott only (no band/vocals)
15 Marc S., Charlie, Jeremy Vocals: Christine, Jonathan, Jason
22 Doug L., Chad, Scott Vocals: Ruthie & Mike
29 Joel, Josh, Jesse Vocals: Scott & Jesse

August
5 Marc S., Mark W., Jeremy Vocals: Dena & Christine
12 Joel, Josh, Jesse Vocals: Jonathan, John, Mike, Jason
19 Geof, Chad, Brently Vocals: Scott
26 Geof, Chad, Jeremy Vocals: Shelly, Dena, Liz, Christine, Ruthie

September

The only thing scheduled is Full Team on September 16 and we're planning to make it a big day with a couple of really great specials. At this time, I'm planning to have full team rehearsals on Tuesday, Sept. 4 and Tuesday, Sept. 11.

PRAYER REQUEST

Jonathan Corbett has applied to the Glendale Police Department (yep...that's in California). He took his written exam and passed it and has been invited to return for the physical agiility testing and, hopefully, the oral interview on July 28th. They are excited about this new step in their lives and would appreciate your prayer as they trust the Lord for their future.

Watermelon Anyone?

Ahhhh....summer! Are you all working on your suntans? Catching any fish? Enjoying BBQ chicken on the grill? How about a slice of watermelon? I love these afternoon rain showers also. I think Colorado Springs is as green as I've ever seen it. This is good news to us mountain dwellers since we don't want any wild fires. I know you probably have summer vacations and camping trips scheduled so we'll take a bit of a break from full team for a few weeks. We'll get going again after Labor Day.

Father's Day is June 17th. I know I made a big deal out of Mother's Day so I want to give fair acknowledgement to you fathers. I haven't been able to send a Father's Day card to anyone since I was a little girl. My dad died when I was 11, but that makes me even more grateful for the father of my children. It's been a joy to watch Ed be the father that I wished for. Thank you so much to all you dads for the time you take to love and train your children. We couldn't be mothers without you!!

PRAY FOR SCOTT!

As you know, Scott is on the pastoral search team and they have been deeply pursuing God's will regarding the direction of our church family in regards to a pastor. Continue to pray as they seek the Lord regarding the next decision. I know we are grateful that God has placed Scott on this team and we should be praying for him as God uses his gift of wisdom.

SUMMER SCHEDULE:

26 Geof, Chad, Jeremy Vocals: Shelly, Dena, Kim, Liz, Christine, Ruthie

BELIEVE IT OR NOT...I NEED YOUR AVAILABILITIES FOR SEPTEMBER - DECEMBER BY THE END OF JULY. Please be thinking about your schedule and let me know anytime between now and July 31st.

If you can't give me dates all the way through December, please give me September - October.

You all have been great about communicating with me if you need to change the schedule. I really appreciate it so much. Advanced warning really helps me a lot.

Blessings to all of you.

WORSHIP ARTS COMMUNITY NOTES FOR MAY, 2007

May is a good month for yours truly. Mother's Day is May 13th and I also have a birthday at the end of the month. However, those who know me well, know that I like to celebrate my birthday for the entire month and beyond if I can get away with it. I love presents!! Believe it or not, I still enjoy my birthday. I figure that it beats the alternative. Anyway...be sure you do something for the special moms in your life, but if you plan to take them out....make reservations yesterday.

May also marks my 6 month anniversary as Scott's assistant and I still really LOVE my job! I couldn't ask for a better boss or a better family of people that I call my community.

I just returned from a trip to the spring break capital of the world: Cancun? Nope St. Pete...wrong again. Disney World...really, really close. No, my friends. Peoria, Illinois. It's a little known secret, this little midwestern town, but let me tell you....the shuffleboards and bingo games were by reservation only!!
Mike and Ruthie Martinez have delivered a baby of their own to their mountain cabin. Yes...their new puppy has arrived and although there have been some sleepless nights....puppy and parents are adjusting well. "The Dog Whisperer" is their new favorite program.

PLEASE SEND ME YOUR AVAILABILITIES FOR JULY - AUGUST

We are looking into the possibilty of a one-day retreat in the fall. It would be a time to practice some new music, get to know each other and have some fun!!! More info later.

Hallelujah, once and for all, Death is defeated! As it gasped its last breath, You tore us from the grip of the grave. It has forever lost its fearsome power over us. And You, our victor, are but the first of many to emerge not only unharmed but transformed!
If this doesn't make us laugh out loud, the truth hasn't dawned on us at all. This is simply the best news a mortal can get: "You're the luckiest person on the planet - you've just won a contest you didn't even enter!" It's not an idea or simply a dogma. It's real. It's now.
You are risen. You are risen indeed!

Worship Arts Community Notes March 2007

Today feels like spring. I'm trying not to get too attached as I know that we live in a place where the weather changes quicker than all get out. I think the snow may actually melt up at my house in the mountains...at least for today.

WORSHIP ARTS MEETING
For those of you who were not able to attend our meeting on February 27th, I'll give you a short recap of the events of the evening.

Why do away with the Saturday service?
Simply put...too many services at too many different times in too many different places. Our resources church-wide are being stretched too thin and our family was feeling disconnected...especially our family members who have been attending the 8:30 service.

What will this do to "style"?
It really isn't a matter of style change as much as it is a matter of everyone laying down their preferences in order to serve the family well. There will be a change in volume in order to accomodate people with hearing aids and John Skiba is looking into ways to make that possible without compromising intensity. We will still be using our band and vocal teams.

What about rehearsals?
This will probably take some working out as we go along, but the consensus seemed to be that we continue to have rehearsals on Tuesday evenings for now and then meet early on Sunday mornings with all musicians and technical people. This provides a way for Scott to have Friday & Saturday as his weekend with his family. Scott and Dena will also attempt to be diligent at planning the music far enough in advance so you would be able to go to a link to hear any new music. (Please note that you have already been sent the song for Easter...good job, huh?)

Side Note: Our first Sunday went fairly smoothly for everyone involved. Scott had a short rehearsal with the band and vocalists on Tuesday evening after our meeting and then had the band and vocalists come in at staggered times on Sunday morning. Apparently, everything went well because the service was beautiful and truly a blessing.

EXCITING NEWS

Arnie Gish (band member) and Jason Garrett (vocal team) are going to be daddies again. Arnie and Jen's baby is due in April. Jason and Caity's baby is due any moment now. We eagerly await the news of your new babies!!

Unbelievable as it may seem. because they look so young, Mike and Ruthie Martinez announce that they will be grandparents at the end of October. Their daughter, Tawny and her husband, Tony are expecting and believe me, there is no small amount of excitement in that family! As if that wasn't enough, Mike and Ruthie are welcoming a baby girl boxer puppy into their home at the end of March. Her name is McKenzie and she looks just like Mike!

Worship Arts Community Notes for February 2007

OK, gentlemen...hopefully you have made plans for Valentine's Day (uh...that's February 14) Believe me...this is an important day to a girl. You don't have to take her to Italy (well...don't totally dismiss that idea). A nice trip to Olive Garden would be a reasonable substitute. Make your reservations early though. Restaurants are filling up as we speak!! Here are some of Dena's suggestions: The Mona Lisa or the Craftwood Inn in Manitou Springs. Although, they might both be full already. There are some nice places at The Broadmoor and you could enjoy a romantic walk around the lake...providing you don't have to wear clothing for a polar expedition. However, if your budget is tight, you could make a romantic dinner at home, but send the kids away. Ahhh....romance. Anyway, Happy Valentine's Day to all of you.

SCHEDULE

The Full Team sings on February 10/11, March 17/18 and Easter weekend, April 7/8

February:
3/4 Marc S., Chad W., Paul H. and Brently Vocals: Dena, Kim and Ruthie
10/11 Marc S., Mark W., Arnie, Julie Vocals: Full Team
17/18 See emails
25/26 TBD

March:
3/4 Geof, Chad, Arnie, Brently Vocals: Kim & Liz
10/11 No band/vocals Kevin Matthews leading Scott will be gone.
17/18 Geof, Mark W. Paul H, Julie Vocals: Full Team
24/25 Geof, Doug L. Guitar TBA Vocals: Scott & Shelly

PLEASE SEND YOUR AVAILABILITIES ASAP FOR APRIL-JUNE

WELCOME TO NEW MEMBERS

We are happy to welcome two new members to our vocal team:
Maggie Griese, who sang with us the last time. Thanks, Maggie!!
Jason Garrett, who I said was a sheriff with El Paso County. However, due to the diligence of Mike Martinez, I was corrected. Jason is a Deputy Sheriff with El Paso County. He also has a baby due in March. We'll be looking forward to his happy news!!

PRAYER & PRAISE

John Skiba came through his surgery with flying colors and he's on his way back to normal..at least what is normal for him. We're glad to see him back. He's been missed around here.

Kevin Matthews also had some minor surgery and is back on his feet. Again...don't ask. However, both me claim that prescription drugs are a true gift!

Can you guess who said this?

"Where there is devotional music, God is always at hand with His gracious presence."

Steve Green
J.S. Bach
C.S. Lewis

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007!!

OK....Happy New Year to me. Guess what I just did? I spent an hour doing this blog and then promptly erased it. This did not make me happy, but here I go again. I had put in the blog that I always enjoy new starts...this isn't what I had in mind. What a hoot!

PRAYER AND PRAISE

Mike and Ruthie Martinez are praising the Lord for her mom's smooth recovery from a kidney transplant. Ruthie's sister was the donor and was out of the hospital within 24 hours. That's amazing!!! Anyway...Mom is doing fine and except for a slight setback, all is well. She's out of the hospital and recovering at home.

Please be in prayer for John Skiba. I won't begin to tell you what the problem is, but you can check out his personal blog for the gory details. He will be having surgery on the 11th of this month and will require some more recuperation time, but we will be looking forward to his sunny disposition gracing our offices once again. He has a massive case of cabin fever along with his physical discomfort. You are welcome to give him an encouraging phone call.

NEW PEOPLE

We are looking for a few good men....and women. If you know of people who have a talent in the area of singing or instruments...please get them in touch with us. We will be putting an announcement in the bulletin in the next week or so. Our email addresses will be listed so people can contact either me or Scott.

IT'S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS

I got up this morning at 4:00 am and drove to work in a beautifully falling snow. I love the snow and I felt like I was on the movie set of "White Christmas". It's a great movie to watch at this time of year...great music and a very cute story. Here is a little known fact....this was not the first movie that featured the song "White Christmas". It actually made its debut in "Holiday Inn", another movie that features Bing Crosby. If you have time, rent these two holiday classics and spend an evening with them and a bowl of popcorn.

BE SURE TO BE AT FULL-TEAM REHEARSAL TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12 AT 7:00 PM IN ROOM 104!!!

We are doing two songs that you will pick up pretty easily. Don't worry...I have confidence in you. I'll also have a CD of one of the songs for you so that you can practice at home.

WORSHIP ARTS CHRISTMAS PARTY

Sunday, December 17th @ 5:00 (You can even come earlier if you like!)
Ed and Dena Flanagan's house in Chipita Park. (Call or email me to get directions)
Bring something yummy to share...a snack or dessert
This is an evening for grownups only.

BE SURE YOU ARE CHECKING THIS SITE FREQUENTLY FOR UPDATED INFORMATION.

We want you to get used to using this and we're working hard to make sure that it meets your needs as well as ours in the area of communication. If you have any news to share, please email me at the church and I'll get it on this page.

AVAILABILITIES FOR JANUARY - MARCH

Please send these to me ASAP!!

Thank you for your faithfulness to the worship ministry of our body. We speak often about what a privilege it is to have such talented and godly people on our team. We look forward to another year of serving with you.

If you know of anyone that sings, plays an instrument, or has technical or graphics expertise, please encourage them to get involved. They can speak to Scott or Dena and we'll know how to take it from there.

HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
